Morning all,

Friend is thinking about buying a car from new-car-discount.com, anyone had any dealings with them?

This is the deal:
http://www.new-car-discount.com/car/vauxhall/astra...

I noticed the pic isn't of the current shape Astra and a bit of googling shows they were in administration in 2008..

Does anything stand out to the more experienced here?

Yes I bought a golf gt-tdi from them back in 2005 and used their finance (jigsaw finance)

I then ordered the focus ST in 2006 but got fed up of waiting (as was the whole country at the time) so instead I found a cancelled order ST at a dealer and used these guys again to do the finance.

No issues both times. They're pretty good but like I say.....this was 5 years ago.

My brother and a few friends have used www.contracthireandleasing.com as they sometimes come up with great deals.

Some of their prices aren't all that great. Looking at their Renault range, there are a lot of cars that are £500 above what I can sell them for.

Others are about £200 cheaper, but I bet their finance rate isn't fantastic.

Thanks for all the replies.

My friend doesn't need finance. Would she be better off haggling with a main dealer?

£8,195 for a 'mid-spec' new Astra sounded good to me.

It's now £9050.... brand new but registered last year. So its a year old car that has been sat in a field for 12 months. Might even be the old shape if its a year old, could have been the last of the old ones.

Yep, just spoke to a guy there who confirmed they're last of the old shape.

'Life' spec are £8,195
'Design' spec are £9,150

But with latest reg and new Vauxhall warranty.

So what do you think.......?

Well if its the old shape, that's about right... pre-registered, old shape, a year old...

Not sure what spec they come with, but the new shape ones are drifting into that price bracket already... http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3066892.htm
