Opened my garage today to find my car has pissed itself.

Coolant all over the garage floor.

If I can't fix the issue myself can I still use the breakdown service to trailer the car to my indie?

As none of us are privy to what breakdown service you have paid for, your question is unanswerable.
Read the T+Cs of your breakdown cover.

As above, it depends on your breakdown service. The one I have allows me to have the car towed to a garage if I wish. Call them and ask them?

Usually you must pay extra if you want to be covered within 2 or 5 miles of your home - it's designed so that breakdown cover is for when you're making a journey, not for some badly maintained wreck that never starts.

Not to say that your car is such a thing, of course hehe but that's the problem you're likely to face when trying to use your cover.

Check your t&c and if there is a certain distance get someone to tow you and dump you at the roadside. hehe (note not recommended)

Left the paperwork in the car in the garage so I'll check in the morning.

Pretty sure I have the full coverage inc homestart.

Car has recently had new silicon hoses fitted during it's service so think they are bedding in.

Nothing had broken, just a few clips need tightening and the system re-filled & bled etc...

I tried having a go tonight but want it to be right, I don't want my engine cooking itself.

Would it be cheeky to call the breakdown guys out for assistance in getting the system right?

Just nip all the jubilee clips up, dry them off, fill & bleed the cooling system, take it for a short spin to warm it up, then go round them all looking for dampness. Nip any damp ones up some more and top up coolant as required thumbup

I am bound to say if a garage serviced the car this is their problem.

If you did it fair enough.

But silicone hoses are known to be buggers for stretching and any competent garage should have doubled their checks on a set of new hoses like this.

Before letting the car out. It is a really common problem.

Drive it a few miles sans coolant, that should see you comprehensively broken down and ready to be recovered to a garage. Easy.

A mates Dad is with the AA, he fell off a quad bike when on holiday and cracked some ribs so couldn't drive home with the caravan. Called the AA and they loaded up the car and towed the caravan 400 miles back to Brum

Update: called the breakdown company and they can pick the car up on Monday.

Would have been today but the garage closes at 12 on a Saturday.
