I need to replace tyres on my Z3-M and am considering all the options.

There's plenty of reasonably priced trackday tyres for sale. Yokohamas, Hankooks, Federals etc.

What are the downsides of those over "normal" tyres apart from a faster wear?

I drive that car... enthusiastically wink also taking it to occasional trackdays, high speed runs on autobahns etc.

Any experience from PH massive?

At the moment it looks like either a set of HANKOOK RS2 Z212 (trackday tyres) or FALKEN FK452 (normal ones). I've had Falkens before and was very happy with them.

High wear rate and some caution required when around standing water. Otherwise, no dramas. I had no issues running R888s everyday on the R26.R and Yoko A048s on my Exige currently.

Some people (usually those with no real experience themselves of these tyres) will say they'll chew you up and spit you out off the road at the mere hint of a wet road, but this really isn't the case at all. It's literally just standing water you have to be careful of.

So just a case of the wear being acceptable to you, really.

Drove a couple of thousand miles daily commuting in my trackday car on Advan 048R. They're reasonable in the wet, certainly better than the kind of peasant-spec Chinese crap that office-workers put on their Hyundais.

They wear like a motherfker on the road. Performance=OK. Wear=Bad.
