Morning

Quick question, I have packed my dear old mother off the the DVLA office to put my plate on retention.

Before she leaves I need to check she can do it?

She has the V5, the form for the retention filled out, MOT and £105.

Is there any reason why they will not let her change it for me?

Thanks

As long as the paperwork is correct there is no reason at all. My Mum once did the same favour for me although it was a plate transfer.

Slight confusion

I assumed that they would have issued her a new MOT certificate and Tax disc there and then with the retention info?

They have just taken the cash and said it would be with me in 7 days?

Is this correct?

I thought it was all done there and then.

Seems odd? I thought the same as you with issuing new tax disc and amended MOT certificate on same day. I await to be corrected though.

That's the way they do it now. Mine arrived within the week.

They will be busy at the moment with new 61 plates, it takes a bit longer in September and march.

Some offices still do it whilst you wait, but they are few and far between by all accounts.
Sign of the times unfortunately - too many people to see and too few workers there!
