Can't say I have seen one of these before on here, spurred on to see exactly how slow my E34 518i is, I decided to load up my Speedview application and have a go at setting the 0-60 time.
So what is everyones real world 0-60 time? You will need a phone with the Speedview application and use it, or similar application.
First find your specs for the car as published when new, then post what it is now

So mine
1994 E34 518i Tourer
Max. Power: 111 bhp
Acceleration: 0-61mph in 12.40 seconds

Today
Max. Power: Considerably less than 111bhp, going to say 90bhp or less
Accelration: 0-61mph in 19.13 seconds

So I have lost close to 7 seconds

Least it is sub 20 I guess.

Anyone else care to post up and get some real life times? Obviously one needs a hands free kit and of course on a private bit of land which is capable of getting you to 61mph wink
Who has lost more time than me? Is there anyone slower?

Good thing is, it gives me another reason to put a silky six in there when the engine dies

Yes why 61mph, I could understand 62.5mph as that is equivalent to 100kph

Have managed 7 seconds with an incredibly gentle start (turning out of a junction and onto a dual carriageway), didn't floor it until I was pointing straight.

I just have too much mechanical sympathy to go chasing 5.5 second times - you have to be incredibly brutal to match the manufacturer times.

So not for me! 7 seconds makes me think it's easily possible though, if it was somebody else's car!!

I prefer 30-70 as it negates the grip advantage that 4wd cars have from standstill, and it's much less damaging to the clutch and tyres.

I currently have 2 cars that probably can't quite crack 10s to 62mph, and I really couldn't care if they've gained or lost a second.

19 seconds? eek

I might try mine one day, it certainly feels quick when you're giving it some abuse from a junction etc, look down at the speedo and you're past 60mph already.

My old T-reg 90 BHP 1.9 TDi Passat feels pretty sluggish to 62mph. Very quick (to me anyway) in gears though, especially 2nd and 3rd gears.

I did a passenger stopwatch 4.7 once in the Chimaera. But that was after she'd been warmed up for 20 miles driving etc...

"Real life 0-60" is an oxymoron; few in real-life would drive the way testers to to achieve these (IMO irrelevant) stats; and if you do, remind me to never buy a car from you...

Mind you, indicated 60 + stopwatch is cheating wink

+ 1 for the mechanical sympathy. I can't really floor it in first, I can't afford the tyres!

Do you race from the lights 20-60? Or do you start from 0. C'mon, we've all done it from time to time.

I'm another one that doesn't like to thrash the car off the line.

Wee gadget on my i phone says I did a 0-60 in 9.1 secs vs the book time of 8.1, but it was a) wet and b) I didn't rev it to 4000rpm and drop the clutch.

20-60 absolutely, but that's got very little to do with published 0-60 times.

1996 Volvo 940 2.4 td. 205,000 miles old.

Book figure: 11.6 seconds

Smart phone: 16.4 seconds

Everyone harping on about mechanical sympathy, just get out there and live a little! You don't have the be particularly brutal in a FWD or RWD car to get the best out of it. Surely there's not a single person on here that's never done a wheel-spin from a standing start, inadvertently or otherwise?
With 4wd it's a bit different, admittedly.

Will try later in my 1999 CLK230K, but I can GUARANTEE that its over 10s, when the manufacturer quoted is supposed to be 7.0

It doesnt seem to have any more power by revving hard, say past 4.5-5k, and most of the oomph comes all in the midrange 3-4k rpm.
Plus my auto box doesn't like shifting at too high RPM (I just put in a new 'box as the old one detonated).

I am esstimating 12 seconds or so...
