Can you identify the red sportscar behind the Honda in this grab? Spotted on The One Show yesterday. I think it looks fun and would like to find out more. Over to you, PH car spotters... smile

There's a sort of MX-5 that looks a lot like that, can't remember what it's called though.

I'd be crying, sat in the dust in the corner while they polish a fking hybrid and moan about how they have been kicked out of a motorsport competition, when in reality they have been reclassified to a level where they can continue to be competitive and challenged.

fking Hippy's! shoot

Cheers. I actually emailed OakTec straight after the show. If they don't reply I'll give them a bell. Unless someone here identifies it first.

Thanks for the response, but having looked at a G4 on Google images it's 'mouth' too far in front of the headlamps.

Still searching... smile

I think it is an Electron the photo may be exacerbating the droop effect. I am old enough (!!) to have driven these forty years ago.

Toughy

Possibly and possibly not:

1963 Ginetta G4 by cisko, on Flickr

and same again, but the Ginetta looks slightly too slow slung around the front, maybe?

Problem is both cars are so old that they can be modified for purpose in so many ways that they start to look quite different to the original.

Having met Air Vice Marshal Bennett, quite a character and driven the original Electrons in the 60.s it looks like an Electron to me.

But as others have said these old cars were so individual (quality control? Behave!) and so often modified there could be many changes over the years and it is difficult to be certain.

What does the V5 say out of interest?

The only thing those cars have in common is the fact they're red!!

I accept a modified Fairthorpe would close - but as mentioned above I think the headlamps on the screengrab are much lower in relation to the tops of the wings? The mouth in the OP is also less droopy at the edges?

I've also emailed the pic to a friend who is in contact with the editor of Classic Car magazine. Hopefully between them and PH we might be able to identify it for sure.

Love this stuff. smile
