I've see this before, so many people flying out of cars without any seatbelts!
The Porsche going off the track down the ditch must've been a hell of a ride!

The thing that strikes me the most is just how weak the cars were in the those days. Rollover protection was virtually non existent. And of course the fact that so few people were wearing seatbelts. Scary.

I hadn't noticed that, but she looks to grab the roof and pull herself back in, so hopefully she was ok...

eek

First time I have seen that. What an eye opener. It shows how far car construction has come on in the last few years.
They were very brave people back then, but they would not have known they were brave as they knew no different.
I was bought up with cars like those. Thank you Mom and Dad for not killing me/us smile

to be honest i thought it looked more like the driver grabbed hold of her & pulled her back in after the car landed back on it's wheels.

no matter how many laps i've done of the place or how many accidents i've seen i still don't have a very strong stomach for these things caught on camera

I agree, that looks like what happens right at the end, but before that her arms look to come up and grip the roof and pull her in, at which point it does look like the driver pulls her in.

At least, that's what I HOPE happened frown

A fantastic reminder of how 30years or more of engineering effort has transformed the ride and handling (and the crash worthyness) of modern cars, something we pretty much take for granted tbh!

(i can see why the very first car in that clip crashed, he probably got his flares caught on the accelerator or brake pedal......... ;-)

lots of flex in the bodies means the door catches no longer line up to hold the door closed
and ive seen more recent videos of that same corner catching people out nicely biggrin

That Beetle cabrio was the one I actually had to look away for. So glad that didn't roll!

I have seen that vid before ,funny and shocking at the same time.

If you enter that corner too fast [many do][me included]you may be lucky and go straight

over the grass, without hopefully ripping sump off.
