How many "projects"do you have on the go currently?
Discussion
Ok, so after my ned beatty/redneck style interface with the taxman i've been looking around at what i spend money on and in doing so it hit me that i buy way too much crap and am in the process of too many projects at the same time. Here's a list of ongoing money pit projects i throw cash away on:
The m3 (general upkeep and tarting)
The capri (restored but currently dormant)
Fireblade (restored but still mucking about buying tat for)
Cafe cb750 (in process of rebuild now. Most bits bought but project stalled for bit)
Xr400 (very kindly detonated its engine, now rebuilt, reason the cb wasn't)
Raleigh record sprint (pushbike, finished but never really used. Totally pointless exercise in nostalgia)
So those are the main ones. Before anyone posts a "worst how much crap i own/how much disposable income i have thread" message, the reason for doing this is to seek perspective. Is it normal for people to toss about doing stuff like this or am i now officially due an intervention?

I have 2 with a third one coming
Jag - under restoration, now with a blown headgasket as well
Quad - engine seized on Friday
Soon to come a Sinclair C5 - stood in a barn since 1988
See, the c5 is a perfect example. Theres absolutely no reason logiclly that you should buy, own or restore one and yet i totally understand the feeling of wanting to.Jag - under restoration, now with a blown headgasket as well

Soon to come a Sinclair C5 - stood in a barn since 1988
This is why i still have a mortgage isnt it?

A man must have his hobbies. It could be worse, you could spend it all on playing golf or maintaining a mistress.
How the f--k would be maintaining a mistress be worse?Edited by Zwoelf on Sunday 11th September 16:11
I love cars but not in comparison with women. SURELY!!!
If cars give you that much pleasure am I missing something?

Just the Fiat 500, a seemingly endless quest to make and keep it roadworthy for the wife to use.
The M3, not a project in that I own one, trying to get to be in a position to buy one and convince the wife its a good idea. I am thinking that I will probably be in a postion to buy one in 2060 whilst on my deathbed and she will then relent and let me get one. Annoying thing is we are really in aposition where it would not actually be noticed, sell a poorly performing ISA or two but no, not on the cards, oh well, will see next year if the share option does ok but have promised the kids a trip to America, theres a decent E46's worth of flights and stuff, trouble is, cant really not do that and get a car as they are getting older, not that many years before they wont be coming with us. Why is it never simple !

Audi Quattro - head gasket gone and taken head with it, awaiting decent funds to restore properly.
Golf 16v Mk2 - mechanically there and now MoT'd, now just needs exterior fettling. Held up due to:
W124 E280 estate - eBay impulse purchase, need to put private plate on retention, send off to friendly mechanic for minor fettling before selling.
Must also stop trawling fleabay for next runarounds with the above outstanding. Audi 80 cabrio or Range Rover V8 Classic are dangerously tempting. Of course I need a 4x4, I live in the Dales!
