Well i suppose if there was a silver lining the oppurtunity to buy a new car is it. I need your help with ideas! 9k budget, sub 7 seconds to 60 and a nice car to go with it. I'm leaning towards a 130i at the moment but how do you guys think their long term value will respond when the new model comes out? I'm a bit confused how R32 golfs from the same years are 2-3 k more so unfortunately those are out of price range. I would welcome your suggestions.

Did you like the mini for everything else? If so what about a JCW mini cooper S? Does the job.

Good suggestion, i'll go and have a gander. Probably not regarding the C32, I would be in trouble if something went wrong with one of those I think!

I'd be mightily tempted by this suggestion if I was in the OP's position.

For £9k I don't think there'll be much to worry about with residuals on a 130i even when the new model comes out. They've always struck me as a nice handling, fast but reasonable economical little car. My OH has a 116d which is perfectly inoffensive but every time I drive it I find myself thinking "wouldn't this be nice with a straight 6 under the bonnet."
