Strange decision by Rolls Royce?
Discussion
I happened to pick up an old (April) copy of Autocar magazine at lunch today. I was reading about the new cars being unveiled at the Shanghai Motor Show.
Among them was a new Rolls Royce Ghost for the Chinese market - stretched to give more legroom. Duh?

Its a big demand in China...they have China-only stretched 5 series, A6s and so on. A big part of status is a stretch black car with a driver. I have seen lots of them there.Among them was a new Rolls Royce Ghost for the Chinese market - stretched to give more legroom. Duh?

New car tax in China is based on the class of car so buyers tend to buy a class down from what they might and go for a LWB version so car makers produce things like BMW 5 series LWB that is the size of a 7 but gets the tax of a 5. Same thing for RR as the Ghost LWB will be cheaper in terms of tax than the Phantom.
