Bloody traders, making a profit and trying to run a business. A pox on the lot of them.

Isn't this how capitalism works? The creation of value through opportunity in a fair market?

Don't understand your issue, traders buy a car and sell in on for a profit.....SHOCKER!

A car will sell for whatever someone'll pay for it so if he can sell it on for a profit good luck to him!

How is this any different to buying a car, doing it up a little, and then selling it on?
Or buying a house to rennovate? Or anything else that involves buying & selling for a profit?

Really don't understand what your issue is here, apart from the fact you're miffed that you got outbid. Should have bid more if you really wanted it, shouldn't you?

Nope, sorry, I just don't understand your problem.
It's an auction and it went to the highest bidder. It seems that the trader who bought it was prepared to pay more for it than you. End of transaction. What he does with it is up to him.

I was outbid on a car i was looking to get for my mother recently.

It has re appeared on ebay with a £700 premium, the guy who won the auction is punting it on (hes a trader).

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&am...

Two things annoy me, firstly that I was outbid by a tt who didn’t even want it on a personal basis, commercialising the auction.

Secondly that he is so stupid in putting it straight back up on ebay.

Is this common practice? Traders praying on poor adverts, then turning them straight round with better pictures?

Doesn't anyone check the completed listings? See what price things have been going for?

oh and I know it traded hands I have been in contact.
Was it the fact that this happened on ebay that made your brain short out at a totally normal situation?

If this had happened down at your local motor dealership, would you still be pissed off?

I love the idea that eBay is somehow the 'hallowed ground' of the personal bidder and that traders using it is some sort of anathema!?

The OP has failed to understand the most basic principle of eBay auctions - that you bid the most you are willing to pay instead of bidding less in the random hope you'll get it cheaper (you won't).

He'll be telling us that you don't bid more because the seller knows how much you're bidding next smile

Yes. How do you think motor traders earn their living?

Indeed. He'll be really pissed off when he finds out that traders also buy cars that are for sale privately and even on Pistonheads.
