I'm crap at meeting new people, I get nervous when I get asked questions, and I've just noticed that there's a damn dint in the passenger door, which I completely failed to mention in the ad.

How do I, the least socially capable person I know, deal with this fella? He sounded ok over the phone, it was all business, but god help me he sounded like a young guy. I'm only 24, and I'm terrified of young people.

My game plan is to point out the bits that aren't so good, present them with the paperwork that shows all the work that's been done, and hope they either make a sensible offer which I can accept and get on my life. If they start getting pushy and aggressive, I'm up st creek.

Argh.

No one is going to die, you'll either sell the car or not.

Sandwich:

Start off with positive
Stick a few negatives in
End with positive

Relax and good luck with the sale wink

I like this approach. Mixed with a whiskey this is definitely the way forward.

Ok, maybe no whiskey.

I think you're probably onto something there as well.

None in the trade as the sh*t sandwich. smile

OP, don't worry too much, cars are never perfect.

You have two approaches, one the above, show all the downsides, its how i would do it.

But at the end of the day, its buyer beware, its the purchasers job to inspect it and decide whether or not any of negative points are an issue for them.

Car I just bought, the seller just stood at the side of the road saying nothing while I crawled all over it.

Wow. You need help.

To immediate problems, I would contact him before he leaves in case he is expecting an immaculate car or at least one without any dinks. I doubt he'll beat you up and tear out your eyeballs, though.

Odds are 1 in 3 that he just won't turn up at all and won't call, so don't worry too much about it.

If he turns up in a black Range Rover Sport, will it make you angry and assertive?

No, I would just see 'mug' and possibly feel a little pity.

Careful, a lot of potential car buyers like to shout aggressively and often hit you. In fact it's not a lot, it's most. Especially the young ones. They all have lots of boxing skills, extremely loud voices and huge muscles. What they all do is record you while they shout and then post it on the internet. Everyone in the world then watches.
I'd just hide under the covers and shout down that you're not in.

Don't worry for gods sake about a dint, I've sold stuff with faults before and imo cosmetic stuff is for them to point out not me, in fact some people are not even that fussed about the odd dint.

For the most part people are nice, sometimes they make a cheeky offer but that's it. You occasionally get the odd buyer who is desperate for a bargain and if I like them or they have pointed out genuine issues then they'll get it for less.

Honestly mate, you have to just be confident. From some of your replies it sounds like you don't take yourself too seriously, which is a good thing, if you are a genuine decent guy you have nothing to worry about.

Stroppy little sod aren't you? You'll fit right in round these parts, I'd drop the love of the rolleyes though; it's use often tends to say more about the poster than the recipient.
