The day didn't cost me anything personally as I was kindly taken by a friend in his Ferrari, but I believe the day was circa £600 (but this included great hospitality, hot laps with the F1 test driver whose name I have forgotten, (and provision of pics on a snazzy usb key in a red bag!).

As for the car - the gearbox is very impressive for starters. I didnt have enough time with the car to really explore it properly, although the Ferrari test driver allowed me to use the full rev range. I have no idea what speeds I reached but I certainly saw all the change up lights in 5th IIRC, whatever that equates to!

Of most surprise was how much acceleration was available in the lower rev range. Unlike the V10 in the M6 this didn't require much revs to get going. I'm told this is due to direct injection.

I think the car I drove was circa £200k. A lot of money, but an awesome car.

I was followed through some very narrow Italian streets by one last month, despite being in a Focus hire car it was fantastic pulling away from him out of the tight bits just to hear the noise it made and watch it get larger in the rear view mirror. I felt like I was in a cinema car chase.

Wait a moment and there'll be all the McLaren-ites along claiming Ferrari must have "optimised" the car for that lap and how the McLaren is far superior in every way and will never be beaten by Maranellos products EVER! And the fact the 12C is only fastest at Dunsfold is NOTHING to do with them having a garage there...

very good. why randomly bring mclaren into this in such a negative way...?! why on PH can't we just be PH'ers and enjoy good cars, no matter what they are. why can't we enjoy both the 458 and the mclaren?! is this what PH has come to...?!
