everyone one knows those lose chipping signs

are the speed limits enforceable ?

as they arnt in a red circle ?

a-la

i was wondering as they tend to leave them there for weeks after they have resurfaced the road when there are no loose chippings left (or for that matter much of the new road surface either) and it frustrates me doing 20 instead of the 60 in the case im experiencing right now.

No, they're recommendations.

ETA: Still if you exceed the speed and flick up a stone that smashes someone's window and causes them to crash, you'd probably get done for dangerous driving.

i agree that taking it slow is a good idea when there are loose chippings but on a well travelled road they don't stay around for long yet the signs can stay around for a long time
