Hi everyone,

Not sure if anyone has any past experience or advice on the subject im looking for but here’s hopping.

I am looking to hire out a cool American sports/mussel car for the approx 6 hour drive from New York city to Niagara falls around end of November time 2011.

I would be dropping the car off at the local airport near Niagara falls (not literately over the falls unless it a piece of junk) and would then be flying back the next day to NYC.

Briefly looking on the net I see Avia hire Corvettes out but are there other companies/website out there someone could point me in the right direction?

Many thanks in advance.

Hiring such a car in these difficult times could be seen as a bit shellfish.

Make sure you don't park anywhere dodgy...you wouldn't want to get clam-ped!

Corvettes are good. Grip like limpets.

Check it's been maintained well, wouldn't want to be crabbing along the road.

Just save your money, it's quite a boring drive. You'd be just as well on public transport.

I'm sure they'll have an oyster card system, or similar.

I had a brand new Caddy DTS from NY last year. 200 miles, all tolls and fuel came to £39. (ETA including the hire cost!)

It was massive, V8, toys galore, and ate the miles up. Not quite a muscle car but 8mpg and typical comedy handling.

There was also a brand new Charger in the car park (Newark Airport) too. All from Hertz, quick, easy, and cheap.

smile

Enjoy...

ETA2 Air-conditioned seats and vibro-massage seats all round. Heaven.

Pistonheads: pouncing remorselessly on the slightest error to ridicule the OP. It really warms the cockles of your heart...

Just to be serious for a minute, at the end of November the OP might be faced with snow and ice, so might be better to avoid the mussels and go for a frozen shrimp ring and chilli dip

Don't shell out too much or there will be little conchsolation and it will cost you a few squid

I'd look at a Mustang V6 as that has 305 seahorsepower and should be a real pearl.

I had a new white Chrysler 200C convertible recently in Florida. Nice looking car and comfortable not too much poke though.

ETA: It was from Alamo - they also do the convertible Mustang..
