After having yet another conversation with a work colleague whose BF is selling his Subaru on her advice - need money, you never use it, i want a bigger house etc... i have to ask this question.

How does this work out? Another girl has coaxed her hubby to sell his Bosxter. Now they are very well off and already have a family car, so the poor bloke could have kept his car, but oh no, she wants it gone.

How does it feel to be pushed into a position where you have to get rid of your P&J for some peace and quiet?

My mrs made me sell my car as it was too slow and too uncomfortable. Took weeks to make her think thatsmile

My wife is not a fan of my car and is always telling me to sell it. Not a cat in hells chance would I ever sell it and especially because she told me to.

My OH would never think I should sell my stuff to fund her / 'our' stuff. But then, I do have a spine and she's not the expensive type.

I think it's a matter of compromise really, e.g. in the 2nd example, dump the bh and upgrade to a Boxster S. Sorted.

Having had the benefit of many marriages I have learnt at some cost that your happiness, peace of mind, satisfaction and well being depends largely on the woman you choose to live with.

Penury is best avoided but otherwise your choice of partner is critical.

Choose the right one: bliss. Choose the wrong one: misery. (and penury)

If you are selling your car because of your woman you are on a downward slope.

Do not do it: your choice of partner is wrong: change the partner.

It never ceases to amaze me the number of pathetic men who simply accept their womens demands.
So many of my old friends are shadows of their former selves thanks to their wives. One of them used to be an avid petrolhead, had a Mk 2 Golf GTI, when we were at Uni, a Fiat Turbo coupe later on. When he marries her, she's several thousand in debt (which he pays off) and then she made him get rid of the Turbo coupe rolleyes
He also got offered an amazing job opportunity in the USA (he's a poorly paid engineer in the UK) which he turned down thanks to her whining. When my ex fiance did that- she fast became history biggrin

What these silly wives should understand is that one has a sports car in lieu of a mistress.

My OH is would be thrilled if I fulfilled by dream of owning a Ferrari. She wants a V8 Vantage. Get with the right woman and you simply don't have this nonsense to contend with.

It's because they are in thrall to the mystical power of the clunge.

Once you prove you can break that power, they soon realise that they have zero leverage to impose restrictions/demands/unreasonable compromises etc.

Exactly. I know a fella and the bird he's dating wont let him text any of his mates while he's with her - it's got so bad recently that now he's not even allowed to contact his mum! eek

Despite the fact that everyone he knows has told him to get rid, he's so desperate to be with her he doesn't see the problem. Now they're moving in together - after 3 months.

Sorry OP, didn't mean to take the thread off at a tangent
