Hi All,

I have a building project coming up, where I will be renovating a 3 bed house.

I need a car to transport bathrooms, tiles, radiators, boiler, gas fire and surround and such like....not all at the same time !!!!

So what car???

Last time I did this, I purchased a v70 petrol which absolutly had a drinking problem!

So this time it has to be diesel and max budget of £2500.

I want to sell it for approx the same amount after 4 months.....

I've been thinking of a Grand Scenic, which seem cheap.....any thoughts?..what else should I think of.....ford galaxy??...for that price they seems really ropey with 160k+

I think removable seats are a must.

Thanks

Sorry but a V70 petrol rofl The diesels go forever and arn't too bad on fuel once out of stop start traffic! Consider one of those or the 850s are they're exactly the same car to be honest.

Best of luck with the project!

Escort Van/Berlingo?

Is there any reason you want a car instead of a van?

Exactly, local recycling does not allow vans.

Also something to transport the kids around in winter would be good

old skoda felicia estate. or a volvo 7 series. get one for a couple of hundred quid with 4-5mths MOT and throw away after use.

with a £2500 car you'll have to keep the interior tidy. this does not go well with transporting DIY gear and doing tip runs.

Galaxy / Sharan

Enormous, cheap and the seats pull out easily.

You can buy my Omega estate for £600 if you want. It has a bit of a thirst but is absolutely cavernous and drifts fantastically in the wet...

I have a 53 plate Mondeo diesel estate for the same thing.

Seats go down and you can fit loads in there.

48mpg as well as being totally reliable.

A bit scruffy but I only paid £1200 for it.

Coincedentlly,I have been thinking of selling it soon...

Our local Polish builders have a Toyota Estima which they use as a mobile skip.
