Landrover Approved Warranty

The Warranty Direct thread has just reminded me....
My ex has just bought a 2007 Freelander2 from a main dealer - the one where proper Aston Martins used to be made.
She found it through the official Approved Used Landrover website and thought it would come with a full monty warranty as spelt out here http://www.landrover.com/gb/en/lr/approved-used/th...
Turns out it doesn't! the main dealer says it only comes with 3 months and a dealer warranty for £500 pa. She has contacted LR direct and the woman at the call centre confirmed that it is a purchased warranty, not something that comes as part of a package(that you would expect for main dealer higher prices etc)
What do the great and good of PH think of that, and the LR comments? I personally think it's really misleading to state one of the benefits of buying approved then it being no different to any other dealer that doesn't have a pile of rocks out the front!
Is this how all "approved used cars" are covered through main dealers?

To be fair, the T&C's of the warranty aren't bad (up to a 5 year old vehicle anyway), but it's as much of a pain in the arse to get a Land Rover dealer to do it under warranty as it is getting them to do it on a car that's still in its original warranty.
When we had an intermittent fuelling fault with our Range Rover, they wanted to bill us for the investigatory work so we could claim it back from the warranty company in complete contradiction to the T&Cs of the warranty.
The investigatory work was explicitly covered, and we wouldn't have been able to claim directly for work done.

Yep! I'm not sure of the exact details(really try to keep out of stuff these days...) but she found the vehicle through the official used Landrover website and then followed from there.I did a little test with the same dealer the other day, found a car(already on their own website), found the same thing on the LR used website that came with the "Used Promise" and rang the dealer. Asked about warranties and they said as it was over 3 years(under 50k) it only came with the dealer warranty of 3 months - there is no mention of anything about 3 years in that link I posted at the top.
I think it's all very iffy and I'm miffed that loads of people may be being mislead - does anyone know if this is typical across the dealers?

TBH, if it's like anyone else's used warranty, it's not worth the paper it's printed on. Get used to hearing "Sorry sir, that's not covered".

ercedes tier 1 is also very good for used mercs covers everything a new mercedes would be covered with for 12 months when you buy a car from a mb dealer.
That's how I read the link in my first post, which would be a good deal from the approved dealer network - there is no mention of any costs to actually get the warranty in the first place.
