W126 Mercs....buying advice

As per title really, looking towards the shed end of the budget...say sub 1000.

Not looking for a minter just a winter hack...with some mods see other thread

From what i've read they seem pretty bomb proof but besides checking all the usual stuff do they have any speciific weaknesses?
