My turn for a what car thread for £25k
Discussion
Well not exactly for me but for my folks, they are thinking of trading in the old TT that they have had since new (225 model) and its W reg or so.
They are looking at a TTS for £25k, something like this:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3236071.htm
bit newer and fully loaded with less miles on it.
He asked my opinion and me being me suggested a poreche of some description like a Cayman/996, etc...
Something that is a bit more involved and wont lose as much money, but in the TTS there is loads of room and luggage space, not sure how that was worked out!!
They already have an 2009/10 S3 in white (dont ask about the pearl white its just something they are going through at the moment)... so its not the primary car but more for them when they want to use something different.
So it needs to be a coupe, good handling, quite fast, not lose money faster than Las Vegas gambler, pretty (mum likes pretty cars) and have a decent amount of space/luggage room.
Wonder if the M6 fits all that now?

I can think of worse cars than the TTS.They are looking at a TTS for £25k, something like this:

If that's what they want, why not.
If they're not really enthusiasts I can't really see what a Cayman or 996 will offer. The TTS will be as easy to live with and run as a hatchback but in more sexy clothing.
A Porsche, while great is likely to be a more dedicated ownership.
Not sure I'd call the current TT pretty, looks more like it's had an unsuccessful plastic surgery facelift.
Personally I think I'd be looking at a 1 Series Coupe, although while I like them, they certainly aren't pretty either.
I'd also think it worth going for a test drive in something like a Nissan 370z.

A mate of mine has just negotiated a £4k discount on a TT 2tfsi black edition (in white) so there are deals to be had. Good car by all accounts and think they could do a lot worse.
I would never usually suggest buying new, but this is one such case that might be worthy of investigation given the fairly strong residuals and if such discounts are available.
