Ignition leads/ plug leads. Idiot question.

OK so I might have a faulty plug lead, not sure, but it seems to be that. It drives well but has a slight stuttering issue above 5,000 rpm. Not a problem as that's well over 100 mph.

I need to cover some miles tomorrow and was wondering if this is wise? Can someone advise?

It doesn't misfire, but as it's not 100% I cant risk it.

A set of Land Rover V8 leads from Halfords would be fine, I think I even have some lying around.

That's a shame.

When you get the chance, have a good look at the leads as mine had almost identical symptoms and it was caused by the leads touching the exhaust manifold.

A slight misfire makes it sound better. Take it. Pretend you are a Messerschmitt pilot.

You'll get away with it, expect it to get worse with time and heat though.

Can't you stick some universal leads on it from a motorfactors in the morning?

Last time I had a misfire I checked the engine while running and, by chance, it was dusk so low ambient light. There was obviously a problem because a spark caught my eye and it turned out the lead had scuffed against the block causing a short.
This was on a hideous CVH engined Escort...

I always have a look in the dark, often you can see the problem. Move it away from the metal, quick squirt of WD40 etc. Jobs a goodun for the morning. Swap em over when you get the new ones. If its just one, not half a dozen that is.
I am a bit of a cowboy though.
