Seems difficult to find many people with a bad word to say about Kia's. They are what they are, as you say not terribly PH, but personally I think the Sportage looks fantastic and you're not going to beat that warranty.

Truth be told I think Kia's worst enemy is the badge, they remind me a little of where Skoda were a few years ago.

My wife has one, the 1.7 diesel, not fast but comfy, takes all the baby stuff and gets 55mpg.

Add in the warranty and the discount we got and it's not a bad car. Looks good IMO, and she likes it which is more than can be said of any if the other faux 4x4's we drove, and we drove them all!

Kind of like a crv but almost half the price.

Sorry, Idin't mean to be offhand. My post was lacking a smiley (from my phone - they're a pain to insert).

I was being genuine, LOADS of people on moneysaving expert seem to gravitate towards Kias and Sportages in particular, drawn by their 7 year warranty and good finance deals. Have a look! And I mentioned the other two sites as PH is unlikely to give you the most unbiased opinion. That said, the posters above seem to like them!

Do you/her find them well put together inside?
What else did you look at before you went for the Sportage out of interest
Cheers

Same company so plenty of parts sharing etc.

It's hard for them to change the image of either company in this country though.

The Hyundai IX35 looks good, I suspect it's a similar car to the Sportage and shares many parts so worth looking at both and seeing which you get the best deal on.

Yes, well built, tight panel gaps. We looked at CRV's, merc ml, freelander 2's, Mitsubishi Outlander, touraeg, tiguan, basically every smaller 4x4 as she did not want a car as big as the range rover I had previously.

Would recommend a sportage if you're looking for soft roader.

I've always thought that due to the keen list pricing and the warranty then discounts on this kind of stuff would be minimal. Just out of curiosity, what kind of discount did you get? Were the dealers willing to discount or was it a battle?

It was a pre reg car that happened to be the exact spec we wanted.

I see, I do like the look of those Sportages, especially in the orange launch colour.

As of March you'd have got pretty much no discount on a Sportage because they were selling them as quickly as they came in - I remember the salesman I was dealing with when I bought my Picanto very anxiously asking his manager when they'd have another Sportage in so I guess they were selling like hotcakes then (although it hadn't been out long)

I'll need to see if I can get a loan of one when my Picanto goes in for it's first service, see what the fuss is all about biggrin

Smart looking car in my opinion especially when they drive towards you. I think they are attractivly styled from front and side but they could have done better at the back its almost like the deadline to finish it off came a bit too fast.

We have a Kia dealer in the group and they only have good things to say about them. I think they look better than the Hyundai version of the same car.

yes I like the look of them - until you see the badge they look like most "premium rolleyes" cars in the school run mum segment

Yea it seems to be a badge thing more that the quality of the car itself.
Need to get a drive in one i guess, does seem maybe a little underpowered though, migth drive better than stats im reading.
Just been reading some reviews and seems they offer alot of car for the money
Almost everything is standard on the top of the range model.
and you cant argue with a 7 year warranty i guess.
SOme nice colours, the bronze does also look quite good in pics.
Id be inderested to see the interior quality, as rattles do my head in!

They drive well, I'd recommend one. Its difficult to see where all the extra money goes with the "premium" brands to be honest.
