HPi not recognising registration number?
Discussion
Trying to do a HPi check on a car I am looking to buy at the weekend. Problem is that when I input the reg number it is not recognising it. The car previously had a private plate on and when you input this reg number it finds the car no problem. The seller has just received the logbook back today and the original reg number has been put back on the car.
So, do I just carry out an HPI check using the guys private plate or will HPi recognise the original plate in a few days?

Try em both to make sure then it'll cross reference the P/Plate change. HPi usually takes a few days to recongnise the changes via DVLA.
What do you mean? When I enter the original Registration number I get the following message, "No descriptive data is held by DVLA for registration number *******." I am still given the option to purchase the HPi check though? If I enter the sellers private registration number, which is now off the car, it comes up with the car information and details.
Should I just carry out the check using the sellers private registration number?
