Hi all

After recent woes with my Mazda and the DPF, I have purchased a new car, and the Mazda is at my garage being looked at. So, I changed insurance over Saturday to my nw car, and ask MID shows the Mazda up as NOT insured, of course. So, how long do I have to either re-insure or declare SORN on the car before I get the £100 fine?

Cheers

I think they send you a few threatening letters first

Technically I think they can fine you immediately.

We had a similar situation recently on a car we were selling. A PC Plod friend advised that a few days, if car was kept off the road, was very unlikely to cause any issues. The DVLA will send you a letter after a week or two I'd expect to warn you. At that point get it SORN or insured ASAP would be advisable I'd think...

Can a car be towed on an A bar if it's not insured? This probably will make or break my decision!!
