My brothers car isn't starting, 2004 V6 Vectra.

He's suspecting the starter motor after speaking to the guys on the Vauxhall forum. I told him to put the car into gear, try to start it with the clutch out and see if it jumps forward, which it does. Does that not suggest it's engaging with the flywheel and working? Not 100% sure on my theory.

Yes i'd agree the starter is turning and engaging correctly. What are the symptoms?

Thanks, thought that was the case.

He says "When I try to turn the key normally the noise coming from the engine is like a whirring sound No clicking. Car started and was driving fine one weekend, the next weekend it just wouldn't start"

Not heard it myself yet, hopefully get round this weekend.
