Hi, my grandad donated me a trolley jack, its old but works fine BUT one of the wheels doesn't move on the front so I'm after a bit of help..

I've took the nut off on the wheel and everything seems 'normal' but its as if its missing a bearing or something that is keeping the wheel locked all the time.

So I was going to go and buy that Costco one everybody raves about, or is it fixable? Do they have bearings on the wheels or are they just bolted on with a small clearance so the wheel can move?

I'd guess it's repairable, maybe take another wheel off and see what the difference is?

Try and fix it, old tools are normally the best tools.

Have you tried WD40 or similar into where tyou think the wheel is stuck?

Also I'd recommend changing the oil in it and fitting new seals if you can get them.

Pics of it would help.

Found a pic of it on my phone, it wasn't originally silver.

As you can see, its not a huge one

Get a Costco one and keep that one for "emergencies"

As for the wheel, just spray WD40 in to the centre, i don't think that one will have any bearings.

Its only a cheap jack. Id buy the alloy jack from Costco and keep that too - you cant have too many.

They only have the stainless steel one at my Costco :\

ended up fixing this one, there was a little bush that had seized on the spidle on the front wheels, managed to hammer it out of the wheel and clean it/protect it so it's working now!

Now onto servicing the car
