Sunny day so decided to do a bit of tire kicking and stopped at my local LR dealer to have a look at FFRR's and whilst I was there, thought I'd check out the Evoque.

Quite pleasantly surprised tbh. The base model seems a lot of car for the money, and the interior seems very nicely finished in terms of touch and feel.

The thing that surprised me was just how "un-4x4 like" it felt. I have a FL2 which is pretty small as 4x4's go, but you feel high up, you feel like you're looking out over the bonnet, and you feel like you're looking out to the sides over people, which you are.

With the Evoque you're sitting quite a way back from the bonnet, the dash seemed very deep and high, and the visibility, particularly through the rear window seemed absolutely appalling (admittedly this is just an impression from sitting in one in a showroom).

I walked way with mixed feelings. I do think they look stunning and I would have one in a heartbeat, but it just doesn't seem "right" as a 4x4.

I think I'll keep saving for the full fat biggrin

one of our neighbours round the corner has a white 2 door one and i must say it looks cool, but no doubt you would get tarnished with the footballers wife special car. Shame the bellend footballers will no doubt ruin it, just wait till big boobed space head gets one, it will be pink with massive khan tacky special wheels

Spoke to an 'owner' of one in Waitrose car park the other day, he has it on test and so far is enjoying it.
It was the Dynamic top of the range version and I must say it looked fantastic.
He described it as Lexus RX with every bit just a little bit better, he loved the interior and the sound system etc.

It was the 4pot diesel (190bhp) He said it pulled ok and was perfectly refined.

Gets a thumbsup from him.
