Five silver E90s in convoy mystery.
Discussion
Over the past couple of months, my Dad and I have been fishing at a place near Stoke probably about 5 or 6 times.
Every time we've driven down, be it Saturday or Sunday, we have passed 5 silver E90 60-plate Tourings going the other way through Buxton in convoy. We always see them at the same time, and there is only ever one person in each car.
Anyone have any idea what they are for/doing?

I know those cars! I can't say anything more than they are driving in convoy for some testing unfortunately!
You mean you know exactly why but you're not allowed to say?Would a PM be out of the question? I'm very curious and I'd like to be able to tell my Old Man I've solved the mystery

In the mid to late seventies I spent a lot of time on the M6 between Wigan and Carlisle and often passed three white vehicles in convoy, all with steel wheels without hubcaps and the tyres "quartered" with painted lines and codes of some description in each quarter. They were obviously from a tyre manufacturer and I always wondered which. They included Bedford CF vans, Checker saloons, Ford LTD or similar and Vauxhall Victors.
I never saw them stopped at the services so never got to ask what they were doing.
