I was just following this Mazda and there was a red glow under the car. I don't think it was boy racer neons as it was only on one spot and right in the middle of the car. I got this pic but it was on my iCrap so it's not the best. Any ideas?
Just a thought - don't speedometer calibration devices use a laser on the road, similar to an optical mouse? I'd agree with others that its likely a DPF or cat running hot.
I reckon the catalytic converter. I have seen pictures of these glowing red on RX8s when the cat is starting to fail; basically the honeycomb structure has deteriorated and collapsed, causing a blockage.
