The current Impreza is no looker, but by God this one bought some ugly seeds, spent year after year nursing the seedling and watching it grow, until it was finally a fully grown ugly tree.

Then drove into it at 140mph.

And now the concept that this 'came from':

Fail.

So sad when you look at the Classic

I guess the designer is a double agent on Mitsubishi payroll

There's still hope. Those are pics of a saloon and a wagon. Perhaps a coupe is still on its way (as promised by the concept) wearing a WRX STI badge.

Can you imagine, going back to the mid-90's when Scooby fever gripped the land, and showing the picture below to Subaru and saying "This is your 2011 Impreza, pictured here in Over-60's maroon, with a nice diesel engine"

They'd have beaten you to death with a massive Prodrive wing.

Give me a minute, I'm popping out back to find the "not sure if you're serious" picture.

Not a big fan of the current model, but it's nowhere near as boring as this one IMO.

It looks horrid. Horrid and cheap. Like a Chevrolet facelift of something Daewoo.

It started to downhill with the bug-eyed version. The one after that offered brief respite but it's all gone horribly wrong since. Don't even get me started on the topic of weight..

Not being an Impreza zealot (I'll resist Fanboy), it looks 'ok' to me. Certainly better than the fist bug-eyed one!

If the build quality's good, why not? After all, most Imprezas sold worldwide are actually just small family saloons, rather than firebreathing rally reps! smile

Stick a big win on the back and make it super quick and people will love it!

Urgh, that is hideous. It started to go pear shaped with that hatch - we should have known Subaru had no confidence in it when they refused to sell it in blue with gold wheels, now it's gone so tits up I doubt it will ever recover.

Probably designed to sell well in their primary markets.

Its easy to think our opinions are important in the grand scheme of things, but a full years UK sales takes 0.5 days production for Subaru.

Yeah, that will be the family car model, 2.0 GX etx. The WRX and STi will look much better. For example look at the 2.0 hatch model, awful looking things! The hatch WRX, the nicest looking one since the classic, IMO.

They have hardly ever been lookers though have they, especially the base models, just thinking of the classic 2.0 Sports, they were hideous looking things.
