Hi all,

I put this in the general gassing section, and nobody repied so here goes for a second time...

Just a quick question. I have bought a car in England, and I live abroad. I haven't even seen it but need to get it delivered. I booked a delivery guy to go and get it which is all fine.

What is the normal arrangement with the documents? Is it really sensible to give the car and documents to the guy who I have never met? Or is it just me being stupid... after all, I trust him enough to collect the car, so why wouldn't I trust him with the car and the docs?

What are your opinions?

Get the seller to hide them all somewhere in the car.

Its a guy,

I was thinking of getting him to hide all the docs in the boot or something.

Ill just do that. I found reference to "the guy" all over facebook and google, so should be ok.

Did any of the links contain the word "crimewatch"?

Doesn't this usually work the other way around, with the OP being the person selling the car to somebody abroad who is sending a random person to collect and pay, and worrying that they are being scammed?

In answer to your question, as long as you haven't employed somebody you met in the pub, and they are a reputable organisation, I think you'll be ok.

However if you're concerned, why don't you get the seller to courier the original docs to you and provide copies to the delivery driver for the journey?

Opted for this instead. DHL will collect the docs for me. For £13 its not worth the hassle.

Thanks for the opinions.
