Just browsing, and came across this http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2939162.htm
Looked tidy, until i saw the tyres
Come on?? RS4 with Hankooks? If the previous owner was saving money on tyres, what else was it being saved on?
What sort of things cause you to move to the next advert along?

Hankooks are mid-price though?

I know they aren't top of the range, but they're hardly Nankangs. Tyres are certainly a good way of judging condition. One of the main reasons I bought my car is that the PO had fitted 4 brand new OE tyres shortly before selling the car. That's the sort of attention to detail I like.

I always used to use cheap tyres in Summer, only in winter did I use decent boot's.

I had never heard of Nankang, which makes Hankooks bargain basement in my mind.

Hankook are pretty decent now, I believe they do a lot of race and drifting tyres.

Seems my initial judgement was a little off.
Anyway, what puts you off a car advert?

A price about 20% lower than the going rate with only a mobile number to contact and no dealer website or location.

Saw one recently which had 9 pictures but if you look closely you could see there were a combination of at least three different cars.

You've been here 7 months and never heard of the infamous Nankang Ditchfinders? The ones that are made out of the hardest substance known to man, capable of lasting 250,000 miles but incapable of acceptable grip even if the road is coated with superglue? biggrin

"Fully loaded".

"Every extra".

"Full spec.".

They never are. Some sellers I think beleive that leather is the only extra available on some cars and that makes it "fully loaded".

Tyre choice wouldnt bother me whatsoever, if the rest of the car was sound and had a decent report from an independant inspection (should be done anyway).

After all as soon as you buy it you can replace the tyres anyway.

What generally tends to put me off adverts are the ones where the pictures are only thumbnails, so when you expand them they are bloody tiny. That and pictures of a car that are blurred. If you can't be bothered to take a decent picture of your car, I can't be bothered to buy it.
