About 6 months ago i came across a 206 stopped on a dual carriageway.
Pulled infront on them and onto the grass at the side.
3 girls whose car had just stopped, got it started and onto the grass also.
Found the throttle pedal did nothing due to the cable jumping its stop, fixed it and sent them on their way.
So when did you last stop and help someone?

3 weeks ago ish. Helped some guy at M1 J22 (my junction) who was on his way from Coventry to Leeds. Seems he had just bought an MG ZR, and his wife had followed him for several miles, before calling him to say she kept getting oil all over her windscreen! Something had gone awry and by the time he had pulled up, there were bits of metal/ oil all over the hard shoulder.
I was in the Defender, so I towed him to the safety of the services and left him arranging recovery.

I'll stop if it's an oldish car or if someone is stuck in a dangerous place, but the chances of me being able to do anything to fix anything built in the last 20 years at the side of the road with no proper tools, are so low that it's not worth the effort.
I can hardly tow someone to a garage in the Elise, it doesn't even have a rear towing eye.
ETA: Obviously at an accident I'd stop if I thought I could do anything helpful.

I was driving home and was two cars behind a car that had broken down half way through a set of lights. It was up hill and the lady wasn't going to be able to move herself. The guy in the car behind her (one in front of me) just sat there on his horn and shouting out of the window.
I asked a guy walking passed to help me push her car through the lights. I made sure the guy behind was inconvenienced a little bit more before I helped her get her car started.
It took 5 mins but no one else would help!! What's 5 minutes?
Pathetic behaviour of the general public.

Few months ago i saw a guy slowley pushing his old fez along the road on his own so i asked him if he needed any help, the guy says it will start if we can bump it so sure enough i gave him the push he needed to get on his way.
The guy was nice enough to drive to the end of the street and round the roundabout just to say thanks

About 8 months ago, drove past an Impreza with the hazards on, bonnet up and lots of steam leaving the engine bay, lady in a miniskirt stood infront of the car. Not that I was stopping to check her out at all
, but I turned round at the end of the road and went back to offer assistance. Turned out she knew quite a bit about the car (not her boyfriends as I had assumed) and simply had a hole in the radiator, she was waiting for it to cool down before she could take the rad cap off to fill it up again.
Being quite late at night, I offered to go ask at one of the houses to fill her water bottle up, took the rad cap off and let her get on her way.
In other less helpful circumstances, I have been known to stop at the scene of an accident clearly involving a chav driving beyond his capabilities (nothing serious, usually just chavwagon/bush connections), wind down the window, point and laugh loudly and drive off again...

I pushed a young-ish guy in a wheelchair about 1/4 mile the other ady, a taxi had dropped him off at one shop and he needed to go to a second which was across a roundabout and up a hill. He'd have struggled on his own.
Told me that the reason he was in the chair was that he'd been paralysed in a hit & run.
Must confess that I did have a seanky look around for any hidden cameras though! But I felt good after I'd taken him where he needed to be.

Came across the aftermath of an incident on the motorway not too long ago - Corsa in the inside lane had been cut up by another driver - the driver of the Corsa hit the brakes, locked up, veered off and hit the barrier on the side of the motorway. When I pulled up there was a bit of debris in the carriageway and the occupants were standing next to the car (one of them looked like he was contemplating running into the motorway to pick up the bits of bumper and headlight).
I got them behind the barrier and made sure they were okay, the rear passenger had bumped his head on the window and was a bit dizzy. I got the driver to call the Police, giving them the reference on the nearest marker post - all credit to the officers, an unmarked arrived within about 10 minutes and started taking details. The HATOs soon followed and blocked off the lane so they could pick up the bits of Corsa in the road. As I was just signing off my statement I saw am ambulance pull up, presumably to check on the passenger.
I gave the girl my number in case she needed a statement for her insurance (she also gave me hers, hurrah!). She called a bit later to say thanks and if I was in her area and wanted a drink to let her know - unfortunately she lives up in the midlands somewhere, and I'm from the SW
I always stop and help when I can, I used to take the long way home in the snow in my old 4x4 helping people become unstuck - I like helping people. Also fitted a set of wiper blades for a girl at Halfords when I was buying some oil for the Mini - she couldn't find any staff so I told her I'd do it. 5 minutes and a thank you later, I was on my way. Good deeds go round

This Saturday not car related but I was waiting to have my hair done when I see a guy struggling to get off a bus, thought not much of it until 2 minutes later I look up and the driver of the bus has got out to help so I trundle over and assist the driver seeing as no one on the FULL !! bus was willing to help.
Anyway turns out the guy has parkinsons and his medication had either worn off or not kicked in, got him a glass of water and a chair but as it was hot on Saturday me and another customer picked him up and carried him inside, at this point the guy could barely speak but managed to tell me the meds should kick in about 20 minutes, after I had my hair cut he was no better so found out where his chemist was which was not to far from me got him the additional meds he needed and picked up his prescription and within an hour he was up and running.
The guy said he used to race motorbikes but could not find much about him Ian Hiller or Heller I think ?
But nobody else offered to help him which really surprised me, I hope if I get to his age and have the asme affliction then if I can't always look out for myself that a friendly stranger will but I feel that won't be the case

A woman in a non PAS hatchback could not manage to steer the car out of a parking space at the local hospital and holding up all the traffic by screwing up the manoeuvre.
So moved car for her. I wish I hadn't bothered, she could have managed it herself if she had put out the f***ing fag and used both hands. My clothes reeked of fag by the time I got out of her car.
