Recommended Car Tranporters
Discussion
I've seen a car I'm interested in buying on ebay, but it's a 9 hour drive away at about 460 miles. Obviously I know it's a gamble to buy without viewing in person, but I don't really want to go all that way only to find that it's not all it's made out to be, or I don't like it for whatever reason.
Is it crazy to have it AA inspected (the car is quite old) and assuming it's ok after seeing more pictures, have someone trailer it down here?
How much is this likely to cost, and can anyone recommend a specific company? The car is right up in northern Scotland, if that's any help.
Thankin' you.

I bought my Austin hot rod sight unseen after a short but convincing chat with the seller. I also did some research on a few forums to make sure the car existed and checked out his feedback on Ebay. This did not guarantee that the car was a good one, but at least I knew the seller existed at that address and the car was registered to him etc. I paid £175 to have it delivered from Eastbourne to North Wilts. Would do it again if the situation arose.
Don't know if an AA type inspection is worth the paper it's written on depending on the car, they don't tend to be too clever on specialist/rare/exotic stuff. A local owner/forum member/car club member who would be willing to check it over might be a better bet.
Obviously best bet is a delivery firm either local to you or local to the seller as it reduces the mileage/cost. There are quite a few advertise on Ebay and in the classic mag's.
