This has been living on one of the delivery rounds I do for as long as I can remember but I always forget to take a pic but today I did it

Sorry for the phone quality pics.

How many of these are even left now and how can people let a car like this to just rot away on the driveway? It makes me frown but I am sure the restoration build would make me more like eek but just thought I would share.

Sad, but I must admit that I have never understood the love for these. They really are hideous 80s slab-sided barges with no interesting features apart from the engine IMHO. I know they have the same engine as the 308 or something and Lancia are to be commended for that, it must make a great noise, but I can't imagine it's hugely quick or handles well...

Personal preference but I'd rather have an Alfa 164 V6, or even better a late Saab 9000 Aero which is a much more resolved design IMHO.

Dont disagree at all, just think it is a shame to see it happen. The same guy has a Yellow 308 with plants growing through it outside his work unit.

One here in the classifieds for £2k. Not sure I'd fancy taking a punt on a Ferrari motor from that era with 100k + miles on it. Still, it'd be fun until it grenaded. smile

So how does the new regulations around continuous insurance and SORN affect these cars left to rot now?

Ah, ok. So the owners of these cars they appear to have no interest in have to notify DVLA every year now? I wonder how many do?

Wheels, panels, interior bits.... all bespoke and rather expensive.

A parts car might make a lot of sense, if (and only if) it isn't worth saving.

yes

Also consider that the OP says the owner also has a rotting Ferrari 308 on the drive so it could* be feasible that maybe the Ferrari or the Lancia have duff engines and one was meant to be a donor car for a project that never started.

Was there not a recent law come in whereby, in addition to annual SORN ING, you also need to declare uninsured status as well?

Very true. He is also the kind of guy who is always claiming poverty. Problem is he must know what it is and what it is/could be worth.

According to www.howmanyleft.co.uk there are more on around than most may expect

You had to SORN it before. It only takes a minute on the computer.

Theres a finders fee in it for you if he wants to sell the 308 smile

The Lancia as JAYB says would be a good parts car . . . . I can think of a certain TR7 Hawk Strato's that would be a great place for the power unit wink
