Four-Door Ferrari Under The Hammer

Got £500k? Then you can have yourself a four-door Ferrari...

A strange one-off Pininfarina Ferrari concept - the 1980 Pinin saloon - is going under the hammer in Battersea at an RM Auctions sale on 26 October.

This drawn-with-a-ruler automotive curio was originally built to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Italian styling house (and given Pininfarina's reputation as creators of extraordinarily beautiful vehicles, we must assume that the design team were hungover from the 50th anniversary ceebrations when they created this) and was a mere rolling shell.

Eventually, however, the car was given a 5.0-litre V12 with 360hp, but never a green light for series production.

To this day, and perhaps put off by Aston Martin's troubles with its forever-controversial Lagonda, Ferrari has yet to produce its own four-door. Though the success of the Panamera, and the arrival of the Aston Martin Rapide (not to mention the possible creation of the Lamborghini Estoque) might always cause Ferrari to change its mind and add more to the ranks of history's weirder four-doors... (See below for our own selection, but we're sure there are others that you may wish to post.)

Yuk!

This is more like PF clearing junk from their store, taking advantage as prices are very high currently.

This is definitely the Ferrari I want most. In fact it's probably the only one I really want.

Didn't it sell in Dubai a year or so ago?

As above, I'm sure this one was for sale not too long ago. Bonhams Dubai October 2010 but looks like it didn't sell. Somewhere else it says price 179,000 Euros but can't find a date for it.

I think the 'Venice' collection of 456's built for the Sultan of Brunei look good as 4dr Ferraris.

It's multi-functional. If you get hungry the grill can double as a chip maker.

None of those are properely designed. They just took regular car and streatched it. And it look bloody awful.
1 off Ferrari in question might be valuable but it's one of the ugliest cars I've ever seen.
989 isn't far off. Having said that, 989 is remarkably similar to Panamera.

How did Porsche not look at that 989 before penning the Panamera. They could have just copied that and it would be 100 better looking.

Pinin looks like a stretched 412 with a squashed Senator (as mentioned above) nose grafted on, I quite like it though.

I also like the Jag XJ6's Italian cousin the DeTomaso Deauville.

Hard to believe that's from from 1980, fantastic for it's day. I wonder would a four door Ferrari thirty years on look far better, doubt it.
