getting myself break down cover for the first time. not sure who is best or what to make sure is included. going to spend between £60-£90 for a years cover. any input or experiences with AA etc would be helpful

It's worth checking with your insurance company as they often do some good deals on recovery.

Advantage of RAC, AA, or a few of the other big ones is they cover you not the vehicle, so usefull is you've got access to more than one vehicle.

To be honest i think RAC and AA are both similar, the prices are pretty much identical

Yes, I've had good and not so experiences with both RAC and AA over the years (never really bad).

There are some cheaper services (Green Flag used to be one) that use independent garages instead of their own fleet. Again, they've been ok when I've needed to use them.

These days I'm with RAC, but only because we got a great deal sometime with Tesco Clubcard vouchers! smile

The main reason I went with the AA is they are more flexible.

I sometimes drive vans - covered by AA but not the RAC last time I looked.

I think some have age limits too and I drive classics as well.

Wouldn't use AA in Europe though - they charge way too much.
