Any recommendations? Is the michelin one any good? I see it has a screw valve not a 'clip' valve is this better?

not cheap... but the best 12v/24v compressors you can buy with 100% duty cycle

I have the round Michelin one, has been fine for couple of years now. Had a Halfords one before that and the screw fitting of the michelin is much better, the press clip was the first thing to break on the old one.

I have the michelin tyre compressor. Overall does an ok job, although the detachable pressure gauge gives slightly different readings (~1 psi) when detached vs attached to the compressor. Very occasionally it also failes to give a reading! Overall not bad if you can get it for a good price.

Ring RAC600 only £16 delivered from Amazon!

Have had one for 7 years and it's fab smile

Very fast (esp with engine on!), has lamp and s.o.s functions, just bought one for my 78yr old mum as she tried mine and found it so easy to use.

This is a good review: http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/what-car-test-tyre...

I know mine is about 1psi out so make allowance for that. Not rocket science smile

I realise not everyone has a handy petrol station - but £17 is a lot of 20p's and the commercial inflators take seconds where these things can take eons to put even 1-2psi into a tyre...

Our local ASDA even gives tokens 'free' with petrol so it actually costs me nowt!

I went out to my van the other morning to find i had a totally flat tyre. No prob, I'll stick the spare on, I thought.
Some ice hole had fking knicked it. That £17.00 was well worth it that morning!!

The Ring jobbie is fast and fits in the boot of the car better than a big static ASDA garage wink

I reckon I've got value for money for mine - tyres checked every week for approx 7 years plus a number of slow punctures/random deflations dealt with. Then there's the air bed and other inflatables (women not inculded biggrin )

I've got one of those '£3.99 from a service station' inflators in the car for that eventuality - and a book to read whilst it does it's job (hopefully without catching fire like the last time!!)

Anything with the screw valve. Watch the fuse rating of your cigy socket too otherwise you'll blow the fuse first time you need it

I've got the Halfords one with preset inflation amount and led lights in the front. I've had two go bad and I'm on my third. Halfords have simply given me a new one each time I've been in to complain about it not working properly.
A good bit of kit. The latest one has lasted well over a year, the last two packed in in a couple of months.
It does get used heavily for the car normal/high load every few weeks, caravan tyres, trailer tyres, motorbike tyres, and the bicycles.

I have exactly the same, the first one broke and the second one is a bit dodgy...

We use them to inflate footballs so they are used fairly heavily. Having blown up quite a selection of compressors I have settled on one made by ring. It runs quietly and efficiently , first one to have lasted over a year and nothing has fallen off
