There seems to be something of a Bugatti glut. I notice that Tom Hartley has one, Clive Sutton by Lords has one and Jack Barclay has two. That seems like a lot for such a rare car.

Simon.

Is it getting to the age where its original buyers think its no longer the car to be seen in doing the Harrods GP with your "close male friend" in the passenger seat?

Perhaps even the seriously wealthy are finding that £100k+ for a service is a little OTT.

My thoughts exactly.

If you are 'seriously' wealthy, ie worth billions, you wouldn't give a toss.

Perhaps they have finally realised that it's a grotesque, overweight piece of st?

I do love the way, as with Porsche 911 threads, any thread that mentions the Veyron is immediately filled with people who describe it as waste of time and/or a load of rubbish .

The Veyron was created as a means of pushing the boundaries of what is possible for a roadcar, whilst still retaining a measure of luxury and comfort hitherto not seen in cars of this performance level.

It find it quite sad that such a feat of engineering excellence is dismissed by supposed petrolheads, who I sense dislike the car more because of what it costs and the people who are likely to own it, rather than the car itself.

Personally I would likely list a number of other hypercars in my "TOP 100" list before a Veyron as I do feel it is likely to be a little too clinical for my taste and would prefer something with a little more theatre, a Carrera GT or Zonda F perhaps, but I do respect it's enginnering integrity and crushing performance abilities immensely.

I have predicted and commented on this situation on a number of occasions on here. The Veyron as a technical exercise has been an absolute success but appears to have bought by the kind of customer only really interested in having the latest big toy. Few of the UK based cars seem to exist outside of London and a couple of other large cities and are rarely sited on the motorways or A roads of this country.

Now that boredom seems to have set in they are being offloaded on dealers at a huge mark downs when compared to the cost when new. And that is where they then sit, in some cases for over a year looking for a buyer.

As a second hand buy they don’t tend to make a lot of sense as in most cases they are about to need their first major service and a change of wheels and tyres. Even to the rich the costs involved will make you think twice.

So if you had the money for one of these I suspect a large proportion would rather splash out on a new Aventador or have a deposit down on the new Porsche 918, both of which are likely to have more street cred than a second hand Veyron as well as being a lot cheaper to boot.

Utter Non-Sense!

I think they are getting on a bit, so basically everyone who had to have one as it was "the car" has now got bored with it. The true petrol head mega wealthy collectors probably still have theirs.

On another note, theres one in the Showroom in Puerto Banus as well.

Or dismissed by people who know they will never own one and hence slate it.

Why would that put anyone off? She's painting her own pink not every Veyron in existance. It'd be like saying I saw a car in a colour I didn't like there for will not buy that make or model at all. Sillyness IMO.

Yep! I agree completely

Some top Journos who I really respect and have driven it like Chris Harris say its awesome to drive and really fun and usable as well.

Thats good enough for me.

Love it AND respect it as an amazing piece of engineering and an amazing car. I even love the look of it. Gran sport for me.... I love a convertable!

I'm not and I probably never will be. But if I was I would give a toss actually.

Yep, pretty much what I was getting at.

Have yet to see a properly thought out argument from anyone who is of this viewpoint. Just the usual "its sh*t", "it's pointless", "it's overweight" rubbish.

With regards to the question posed by the OP I agree with the earlier poster that some original owners have moved on to the next big thing (possibly the Veyron SS), and there isn't much of a secondhand demand for them.

The Veyron will always be a car I'll more than likely never drive or be able to afford to buy ever. I don't doubt it will be an awesome car, BUT if I ever came into the kind of money to be able to afford one, I still wouldn't, purely because IMO it's ugly as sin. Technical achievement? yes. A car you'd just go to the garage to look at? No.

Just plug it into VAGCOM to check for any codes, drop oil and filters. Job done. Where's £100k go in that? biggrin
