another what 4x4 thread

My dad is after a 4x4 as a second car and for over winter.

he doesnt really have any resurvations about what cars just no frontera's or suzukis.

he has 2 grand to spend
engine can be largish but I dont think he wants a V8 landy type thing

Might be better in the 4x4 section, but is he only wanting the car to get through the snow? What size car does he want? Do running costs (tax insurance etc etc ) matter?

tax an insurance are not really a problem atm really just needs to be fairly reliable, i.e. not break down after a month or two

Jeep Grand Cherokee.

£2k will buy a good 2000 year one and it will have all the goodies like leather and aircon plus are pretty handy off road.

Might be worth putting on your list especially if mpg is not a concern.

That is what I did, lowish miles, 2 owner 4l for £2300 on E Bay. Really love it now, although a bit of a culture shock after a 2.7D Sport S Type! Fuel averaging at 18.6MPG over 10K since feb.
