The original VW Up! concept had some unique features inc rear engine, rear wheel drive that set it apart from the herd.
THEN they decided to make it front engined and FWD - no doubt decided by some committee of accountants.
But at least it was still slightly different in the marketplace.
NOW i see SEAT have a version and SKODA.
So a decent unique concept has been diluted beyond recognition...

As if they were ever going to produce anything other than a cheap FWD shopping box, come on THEN they decided to make it front engined and FWD - no doubt decided by some committee of accountants.

Well i dont *care* per se. It was just something that was maybe bringing some new thinking and unique (ish) to the marketplace. Its a crapy little shopping trolley

Now its just another little Eurobox.
Had no intentions of ever buying one but i've just been watching the concept diluted and diluted and diluted.
I think the days of truely individual, special, different cars from major manufacturers are long gone. I think they're all so afraid of taking gambles that they just play it safe all the time.
For me, as long as the Up! is more in the spirit of the Lupo and not the goppingly awful Fox, it'll be a big improvement.
