Should shock absorbers be fitted in pairs ?

My next door neighbour has just had his Aston serviced, during which a shock absorber was noted as leaking. £700 to replace ( sit down in shock ). Anyway he kicked up at this work because of the exceptionally low milage of his car. The dealer has agreed to replace under warranty, should they replace as a pair ?

I would. Especially so on something like an Aston, or any fast/sporty car for that matter. I doubt my nan would notice in her focus for example.

Dealer wont be so compliant I suspect.

If it is of low milage then no as the failed shock is probably a material failure then wear and tear

Depends. On my car they're hydraulic and £1150 plus vat each. Plus fitting So as you can imagine I just replaced the last one singly.
