According to GM...

A production spec car with no performance modifications...

Seems like the yanks are really on a roll with the current gen of performance cars.

If you put a 600hp engine and tyres that wide on most cars, they'll do a quick time. And going round the ring quickly is not a good representation of real life speed.

So! Most cars dont have 600bhp and cant go round that quick. If i built a production car with 900bhp and stickier tyres it would probably be quicker, but i dont!

That is quite impressive. I thought American cars couldnt do corners, at any speed. But thats quite impressive.
What does a similarly weighty, similarly powerful german saloon do it in?

It doesn't look particularly happy in the corners though. Sounds good though!

Very impressive. I wonder what a similarly priced German car could do it in!

Real life roads. And the ring is nothing like real life roads, even the ones next to the ring.

I don't think it's official yet, but rumours say $47k base price in the US. Substantially more for the UK, I'd expect.

Fill your boots, but to give you an idea, E60 M5 is over 8 mins.

Whatever you think of the car and the relevance - or lack thereof - of 'Ring times, 7:41 is bloody quick.

I was under the impression... the whole point of the place is to provide the most challenging and varied conditions in one track that a driver could ever expect to face... so in theory a car that is quick on the ring will be quick everywhere else too

the ring may not be like real roads, but it is the closest track to real ones. the times are interesting, I find because the track has many blind or over crest corners. a chassis has to inspire confidence to be quick. and that is something I look for in cars.
