BMW E36 Cylinder Head

Posted this on the BMW forum but maybe this is a better area to post?

Could anyone confirm whether the 1.6 litre cylinder head is the same spec (camshaft/valves, etc) as the 1.8 litre M43 engine and if they are interchangeable?

A friend has got a damaged 1.8 cylinder head and is looking for a secondhand replacement - there appear to be more 1.6 litre ones for sale.
