Hi all,
exactly a month ago i sold my car (a cheap little hatchback), as gave the log book to the owner as he was undecided who's name he wanted down. i wrote a reciept out stating the price and sold as seen, and he signed.
(i phoned the insurance company the day after and cancelled)
Now i have rung him after a month and he has not sent the bugger off. as he is claiming there are problems and i described the car as perfect and the clutch has gone. from my understanding i didn't know of any mechanical gremlins and he test drove twice.
I have wrote a letter to the DVLA, is there anything else i can do?
PS: all ive got is his road name and telephone number. i am suspicious he is using the car on my mothers name.

I doubt the DVLA will help too much as you 'have' to fill this out at sale time. Atleast you have his name and address. You could always request a new V5 and send the change of keeper off again or declare it scrap - whatever floats your boat

I had a similar situation when a dealer didn't send the form to the DVLA. I wrote them a letter informing them that I was no longer the owner of the vehicle, giving them the dealer's name & address; I got a letter back a week or two later confirming that the car was no longer registered in my name.

do you have his full name?Either way, bung the street name into google and see if he pops up. Failing that just go to the street and see which house the car is in front of, you can then go to the land registry and see who owns it.
