YKYWT... Put Your Tights On, Robin

And Holy Cripes, what have you done to the Batmobile?

We've done Batmobiles on PH before, of course we have. We've done Bugatti Veyrons too. So how come we never thought of this? It's the 'Banham Bat Veyron Looking Kit Car', and you can own it for the cost of a real Bugatti Veyron's spare tyre.

£2,500 may seem like a lot of money to spend on fulfilling those superhero fantasies, but consider what you're getting for the cash.

1) Rarity - the vendor reckons only six are left in existence, but can there really be as many as six people out there who paid to build these things? 'Ka-pow!'

2) A Metro 114 GTi. Well, most of the important bits, which could mean as much as 103bhp on tap, and a top speed comfortably over 100mph. Who's laughing now, Mr Joker... 'Ker-blam!'

3) A Cherry Bomb exhaust. Er, 'Rasp!'

More here.

If you can forgive its looks, I'd bet it would be a wonderful trackday toy to fling around once it had a 200bhp K-Series grafted into the front of it.

Kinda like a more modern mini-marcos, however nowhere near as cool of course.

I quite like that actually getmecoat
the way the body sits on the wheels looks a bit dodgy though, could do with being a bit more of a snug fit.

Finally - This is NOT a REAL BUGATII VEYRON, its a kit car that looks from the front a bit like a veyron (yes this was actually asked!)
laugh

kudos to the sellers, they've not tried to pass it off as something else like most nuts kitcars do

For £2500 is that the sort of 'exclusivity' you want? It is a masochist's car and unless you have enough spare cash not to care about the pointing and laughing it is surely a waste of a car?

Paul Banham was a really nice chap when I did a write up for the Mini Roadster conversion. The Banham Bat was a nice conversion in it's day and made use of at the time undesirable Metros.

It's a pity there were only a hundred or so finished as it was ahead of it's time and a good one will have the kind of cult following the VW based Nova kit car of the 70's has today.

Don't poo-poo this car because it's different celibrate the fact that someone tried to reserrect the British car industry.

Remember how crap the first Daewoos were? They had to sell a few to pay for the next generation of cars. Think of the Banham X1 and Bat as the same only sadly they didn't sell enough to survive. It would have been interesting to see what the next step would have been.

I pointed this out to Will' editor of PPC Magazine who featured a Bat last month. The car was developed seven years before the Veyron was thought of so technically the Bugatti is a replica of the Banham Bat. wink

A nice chap, but kind of on too many drugs by the looks of that car.

Daewoos are still crap!!
