Now there's a question I'd like an answer to as well! Often thought about trying to put one in my Volvo 360. Hmm.

Where are you thinking of sticking one, OP?

Pretty sure it was used longitudinally in the A6, certainly the 1.8T petrol in my A6 was longitudinally mounted. But the A6 was front or four wheel drive, not sure if that helps.

None of which were RWD...

OP, I say 'no'.
I can't even think of a VAG RWD car...

its mounted longitudinally in the Skoda Superb in the 130bhp guise. But only FWD.

The Passta using the same chassis was available in 4motion and im sure it was available in 1.8, 2.8 V6, 1.9 TDI and 2.5 V6 TDI engines?

enough bits to cobble a rwd only system together?

I'm dreaming, really. I'm getting a tad fed up with tooling about in a diesel Mondeo (I'm 22 years of age FFS!) but I need something for towing. What I really want is an old beemer, but a four banger wouldn't have the grunt and a six would be heavy and thirsty.
That and the racing season is over and I'm already bored...

Not purely for RWD I dont think...

Longitudally in the Audi A4 (possibly other Audi's), but only available in FWD or AWD IIRC.

Have they ever done any rear wheel drive vans?

The same engine is also used in some really random applications, like the Supacat ATMP, (transverse, mid engine, 6 wheel drive), and I think Pinzgaurs use a VAG TDI engine but not sure which one, they're 4WD or 6WD though.
