Old diesel servicing costs.

Quick question. I'm looking at cars that are about 10 years old. Do old diesels cost a lot to service or are they far simpler than modern ones without the requirement to change a thousand filters and belts at every service?

Just an oil & filter change every 6-10k miles & a fuel filter every 20k ish should do it. Older diesels tend to carbonise the oil more than newer ones thats the only reason for more frequent changes.

10 years old is what 51 reg?
I had a vw golf gt tdi 1.9 pd which was w reg.

You want the much older 110bhp non pd 1.9 unit that's even more built proof plus veg oil option slower though.

A lot of old indirect injection engines run well on veg oil too, in particular mercedes and the pug/citroen 1.9td
