In current Autocar mag.

Its going to smash the veyron out of the water on all acceleration runs and be a very sparse car. Price will be around the £1m mark.

That particular story is July 2010, and the image is Autocar's own rendering, so who knows what it might look like. I do wish they wouldn't do that.

I wonder of a 'sparse' Veyron would keep up?

So not the half bar they reported 6 short months ago

http://www.autocar.co.uk/News/NewsArticle/AllCars/...

They're making it up as they go along...

Also, you'd have thought the most successful team ever in car racing might just know a thing or two about keeping a secret?

No no no no McLaren. Why do you think you have to prove yourself? Stick to the Formula 1.

Who's going to supply the engine to make over 1,200 horsepowers reliably and to meet emissions? Unless they take a smaller engine and stress the hell out of it, which I doubt would be the case. The Veyron is not just a super fast car, it's a super fast car you can use everyday. No normal person (non-petrolhead) could ever run an original F1 daily without going insane from the lack of comfort, noise, limitations, etc.

The road going F1 has a very nicely appointed cabin, and a number of creature comforts. You could easily use it as a day to day car. Any F1 that has been in for the LM conversion however is a very noisy place to be.

That was my initial thought too. Front 1/4 was the part that did it for me.

Let's hope it has less issues at launch than the MP4-hyphen-12C.

I'd like to see McLaren blow everything away to a degree which will never be touhed again. Simply put a body on top of their current F1 car. Sell it for £10m. It would be the final word in supercars for all time. The ultimate Top Trump. That would be a real argument stopper. So what if they only sell a few.
