I changed a car via p/x over a year ago, and this car sat on the dealers forecourt for the best part of a year.

About 4 months ago, I noticed it had been sold.

However, it is yet to appear on the insurance database, but it is taxed.

I'm guessing then that it's being driven without insurance, unless the new owner has a policy that covers the driver rather than the car (do such policies exist outside of the trade?).

It might be parked up off road somewhere. How do you get the printout?

It is not taxed, it is SORN'd.

^^
'SORN Not Due'

Means it is SORN'd, if it was taxed it would say 'Licence Not Due' or Licence Due To Expire' if it was taxed and it was about to expire.

Guess that is the end of this thread.

It is indeed SORN'd.

Sorry chaps, my mistake.

If I had just checked my own car, I would have seen:

Vehicle Status Licence Not Due

As has been pointed out to me.

I guess she is sitting in an auction room somewhere.

I should have picked up on that getmecoat

Page 5 of this thread has a few examples
http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
As theyve tried to mix SORN and TAX with one box....
The poster put up his car for sale declared SORN but kept the disc
Vehicle Status SORN Not Due
means it's SORN but doesnt say whether or not it's still taxed

On receiving new keeper SORN is cancelled and even though it was taxed,
Vehicle Status Unlicenced

The new keeper didnt discuss with DVLA, instead took out more new tax
Vehicle Status Licence Not Due
